Josh and I had this wild crazy idea to just getaway somewhere for a evening and sleep in our car. So we took out the seats and blew up the air matress and went for a drive to the Porcupine Mtns. We showered at a campground. It was so cool because we "parked ";-) along the shoreline and it just happened to have a picnic table! We brought our own food, cooked it on our little camp stove, and sat in our soccer chairs to watch the sunset.
The next morning we got up and went to eat breakfast at a little diner in Ontanogon and then toured the Ontanogon Light House. We had our own private tour. We loved the furnishings and learned a ton about lighthouses. We were also fascinated to learn that the main light keeper, Mr. James Corgan was also the light house keeper at Copper Harbor's Gull Rock for 5 yrs. My kids speak of him when when they role-play at the fort there.
Josh asked how loud the fog horn was and this guy nearly blew our heads off!
We loved the old furnishings and want to bring some of that into our home. Great ideas! Already got some lacy curtains going!
Then we went to the Lake of the Clouds and hiked to a few waterfalls. This one was amazing. The swirling waters carved these huge holes into the rock layers.
Love the pic of the tree reflection in the water...it was breathtaking!
Found a frog! Yep... had to pet him!
This water fall just kept going and going. We were able to walk out in the middle and get our feet wet!
